Race to the Alter Wedding 2008

In the spirit of Opening day tomorrow I just received the photos from last years "Race to the Alter" wedding where I was the official wedding planner for the event. I had such a good time with Michele and Jim... they were so thankful for all that was provided in the contest that they won! Here are a few pictures to show the event. Photographer was Michael Gallitelli of Metroland Photo. http://metrolandphoto.com/ he was really great to work with.

Between the races the ceremony was held in the winners circle with my friend and fellow vendor Robyn from Trinity Cottage Weddings. www.trinitycottage.com/home/html One of my favorites!

Just after the ceremony the happy couple and their bridal party got to stay in the winners circle to watch the following race. With their Flower girl aka granddaughter.

They received pictures with the winning jockey, and owners of the winning horse. So cool!

These guys were having so much fun with each other they were totally laughing so hard that the photographer started laughing and had to stop shooting for a moment! Too funny!

The Cake tasted as good as it looked! This is the one thing that I look forward to at every wedding.

This was one of those weddings that will always remain in my mind. Marissa and Matt were so in love and with their 1920's themed wedding I think that they achieved the look that they were going for. Especially all of the red roses!

The Photographer was Frank Diemo http://www.frankdimeo.com/ he was with us all weekend and was really great. Check him out!

Their cake was an exact replaca of Marisa's Grandmothers cake which was direct out of the 1920's the start of the vision...

At the end of the night all of their guest were treated to a candy station. You guessed it all the candies were "old time" candies with little picture frames to tell the type of candy and the story behind each one.

This wedding was such a blast... We had so much fun with all of the little details!!! Danielle worked really hard to make everything tye together for her Tiffany Themed Wedding. I think that she totally pulled it off. With great vendors and an awesome venue the wedding was a great time by all of their guests!

Seamus and Lauren -- Riverstone Manor

Lauren and Seamus' wedding was great! Everyone had a wonderful day to relax and enjoy the beautiful day. I had such a great time leading up to the wedding with this couple and both of their families. We started at the rehearsal at Cella Bistro where I was able to get to know all of their close ones and we moved right into the wedding at at St. John's in Schenectady. Finishing through the reception at River Stone Manor where they couldn't have been happier.

Tom and Jamie Lynn's Wedding, Staten Island

Tom and Jamie Lynn's wedding was amazing! Jamie Lynn did a fantastic job with all of her planning. I was assisted by my newest member of the Details Planning Team, Coleene DelConte.

Throughout this wedding Jamie was so wonderful to work with. The Wedding was at Nicotras ballroom on Staten Island, NY, Working with not only a great photographer but friend as well Matt Ramos Photography, he did an outstanding job ont the photos...

The Tables were beautifully done with tall three piece floral centerpiece. On the Tables were candle lit three sided table numbers with their pictures from all stages of their lives as an extra touch.

One of my favorite place cards of the season was this display of individual cards tied to mini pumpkins on a very large beautifully decorated entry way display.

As you can see Jamie and Tom carried the fall theme right through to the end with this outstanding cake! Thank you so much for having Details Planning be a part of your wedding!

Tips for turning a Wedding/Bridal Show into a great experience

We are approaching the Bridal/Wedding show season. These shows can be a really great experience for some but others may struggle a little... For the ones who break out into a complete sweat when faced with so many choices it is very overwhelming. There are so many people, loud music, so many rooms to keep track of, people constantly bumping into you and your six friends that you have brought with you to the event.

If you are the type to be overwhelmed use the following tips to help you have a great experience.

1. Go by yourself. If you don't feel comfortable going by yourself than you can bring one person who will help not hinder the sifting process.

2. Ask the people at the check in table if they have a map of the location. This may help you keep track of where you have been and where you still need to go.

3. Don't make decisions on the spot. Gather all of the information that the vendors pass out and take it home lay it all out and reflect on which vendor stood out to you. What vendor would you like to make a follow-up appointment with. Or toss the other information that doesn't pertain to your specific wedding.

4. The show may have you fill out a bunch of information at each table. If you have printed return address labels, use them it will save you a lot of time.

5. Try to sit back and just enjoy the show...

Wedding planning tip for flower girls and ring bearers

Two tips to get your little ones to go down the aisle:
1. Have a parent or someone that they listen to seated in the first or second row. This way they can see that special person at the end of the aisle and immediately sit down once down the aisle.
2. Have a quiet gift for them to look at or play with once down the aisle. example would be coloring book and crayons, a reading book for the older ones ore even a little snack and drink.

Remember they are just little and if they go down the aisle they go, if they don't, go around them...

Since I have started my blog I have received so many pictures and Thank You notes from all of my past clients!!!! YES I will be posting them both on my site and on the blog. Thank you for all of your kind words...

I'll start with the most recent and work backwards.

My husband and I enjoyed the reception of our dear friends (well I tried due to my insane need to always make everything perfect) Congrats!!! Mr. & Mrs. Randall!! I did help with some of the planning and facilitated the ceremony portion of the wedding but for the reception it was pure fun!
